KRUNK DEFEAT BUTTE, 109-99

KRUNK USE LATE RUN TO SNAP LOSING STREAK

ATLANTA (December 10, 2007) -- Waki Williams scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half as the Atlanta Krunk used an 11-2 run over the final three minutes to defeat the Butte Daredevils 106-96.  The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Krunk and ended a five-game winning streak for the Daredevils.

With the game tied at 88-all, the Krunk (4-8) tried to put the game away with a 7-0 run midway through the fourth quarter.  Williams was fouled in the act of shooting and made the first free throw.  When the second shot bounced off the iron, Bilal Simmons grabbed the rebound and dished back to Williams in the lane to put the Krunk up by three.  After a defensive stop, a three-pointer by Simmons pushed the lead up to six, 94-88.

Butte (7-6) would battle back, pulling within a point at 95-94.  With three minutes to go in the game, the Krunk would start their final run.  Williams took a feed from Grayson "The Professor" Boucher and went up to dunk.  The ball slipped out of Williams' hands, but the forward from Memphis managed to still get the ball to drop through the rim, setting the run in motion that gave Atlanta the win.

"The Professor" exploded for a season-high 16 points, with 12 coming off of made three-pointers.  Andre Owens scored 10 in the first half and scored the final three points of the night for Atlanta for 13 on the evening.  Simmons scored 13 in his second game with the Krunk, with Miguel Milian chipping in 11 points and Zeck Marbury adding eight.

The Krunk trailed 29-20 after the first quarter, but outscored Butte 26-14 in the second to even the quarter scores.  Butte topped Atlanta 27-24 in the third to tie the game.  With the score tied entering the fourth, the Krunk poured in a game-best 36 points to take the final quarter and three bonus points in the standings for the win.

Benson Collier led Butte with 21 points.  Jibril Hodges returned from suspension to score 17, with Jason Miller adding 16.

The Krunk will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to face Rio Grande Valley to begin a four-game road trip.  Atlanta's next home game will be December 27 against East Kentucky.
