ATLANTA (November 24, 2007) - In one of the more exciting games of the young season in the Continental Basketball Association, the expansion Atlanta Krunk defeated the defending Division Champion Albany Patroons in a thrilling double overtime contest. In a rematch of last weekends opening series, the two teams and their respective former NBA standout coaches, Kenny Anderson and Vincent Askew, matched wits and talent, basket for basket.
The Krunk were led by a brilliant offensive display by Miguel Millian, who scored a season high 44 points, including an array of crowd pleasing dunks. Zach Marbury played a brilliant floor game for the Krunk as he scored 31 points while going 17 of 18 from the free throw line. Taliek Brown (14), Terence Hunter (13), and Waki Williams (11) were the other players in double figures for the Krunk.
The guard trio of Chad Timberlake (28), Nat Burton (22) and Jamaal Miller (20) led a balanced attack for the visitors, who forced overtime by scoring an incredible five points in seven seconds to send the contest into overtime, as Timberlake buried a three at the end of regulation.
In the two overtime periods the teams continued to trade baskets until a couple of timely follow ups by Millian and dead eye free throw shooting by Marbury finally proved the difference. The Krunk (3-2) and the Patroons (2-1) meet again on Monday the 26th of November at 7 pm at the John H. Lewis Gymnasium on Morris Brown campus. The game can be heard locally on 860 AM WAEC in Atlanta via tape delay at 9 PM.
